A new law in Mississippi allows breweries to make beer with higher alcohol content (up to 10% ABV, compared to the old 6%), so Lazy Magnolia is now making a rye IPA called The Timber Beast with a whopping 9% ABV. The beer won't be available in New Orleans until September, but they're previewing it with a special cask version at the Avenue Pub on August 17, at 5:30 p.m., and (the regular, non-cask version) at the Uptown Bulldog on August 23, at 6 p.m. [NOLA.com]
