Plans are underway to transform the vacant Schwegmann's grocery store at 300 N. Broad Street into a fresh-food hub, complete with a grocery store, teaching kitchen and life-skills program. The Times-Pic reports that nonprofit, Broad Community Connections, purchased the vacant property in late June with hopes of spurring redevelopment along the Broad Corridor and creating a space for community gatherings. Rumors claim Trader Joe's or Whole Foods may be interested. [TP]
