Café Du Monde, Saturday at Noon

Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographer Daniel Krieger visits some of the city's great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, Café Du Monde.

[Krieger]

One of New Orleans' unmistakeable landmarks, Café Du Monde has been whipping up cafés au lait and beignets for well over one hundred years. Despite its tourist trap reputation, Café Du Monde is one of those iconic New Orleans spots that locals actually patronize. This past Saturday, the scene was typical for a weekend afternoon: good crowds of tourists and families, plus a street trumpeter and, of course, those white paper hats.
