San Fermin Festivities, Bastille Day Celebrations

The blog's shutting down a little early today to observe that wonderful thing known in the media biz as Summer Fridays. Be back Monday, have a great weekend.

EVENT PLANNING?The New Orleans version of the San Fermin festival kicked off last night with a wine dinner at 7 on Fulton. It continues tonight with a party, called El Txupinazo at the Sugar Mill. El Txupinazo is free, but space is limited. The marquee event is the Running of the Bulls tomorrow morning. [EaterWire]

CULTURAL STUDIES?Don't feel like pretending to be Spanish this weekend? Pretend to be French instead. New Orleans will celebrate Bastille Day over the next three days. [NoDef]

FREEBIES?More Bastille Day! All day tomorrow, July 14, La Madeleine will offer a free mini dessert, with no purchase necessary. (But only one per person.) [EaterWire]
