What are New Orleans' 'Try Before You Die' Restaurants?

New, 28 comments

It's Friday during summer in Southeast Louisiana, which means it's hot and it's slow. So we think it's time to hear from the crowd. Have something you want discussed among the fine Eater readers? Send it this way.

It goes without saying that New Orleans is a fun place to eat. It's not uncommon to hear about people visiting here and saying, when asked what they did on their visit, "Oh, basically I just ate. A lot." For those of us who live here, it's not much different; there are just so many great restaurants here. But what are the ones that everyone?everyone?absolutely must try at least once? That's the question for this Friday's Open Thread: What are the "Try Before You Die" restaurants in New Orleans?

Once this open thread's been up for a week or so, we'll compile the results into a fancy, pretty map of New Orleans' best, most iconic "Try Before You Die" restaurants. So have at it in the comments, and happy Friday.
