FESS TIME? For people who really love tomatoes, this weekend down at the French Market is the Creole Tomato Festival, a celebration of all things Creole Tomato that coincides with the Zydeco Festival, held next door at the Old US Mint. [WWL]

DO GOODERS? The New Orleans Mission is losing its directors, but it's staying open and will continue to provide food and shelter to the city's homeless. [Gambit]

EVENT PLANNING? Also down at the French Market, though not happening until Sunday, June 17, is a free class on making blackberry wine, with Aaron Hyde of homebrew supply company Brewstock. [TP]
