Drew Brees, Jimmy John's, Maple Street?It's Happening

Quarterback, citizen, clothing designer and fast food mogul: is there anything Drew Brees can't do? The Saints' quarterback?or, the guy who's usually the Saints quarterback but still hasn't agreed on a new contract with the team?already has one Jimmy John's out in Metairie and has plans to open another on Maple Street.

His second sandwich shop was up for a vote at today's City Council meeting, which Uptown Messenger's Robert Morris live-tweeted and live-blogged. Despite some NIMBY-ism from neighborhood folks upset about the whole fast food thing, the Jimmy John's was approved 7-0. Because Drew Brees can do anything. (Also: because they modified the zoning, with the building owner promising never to allow any other fast food restaurant to occupy that space, ever.)

There's probably a third Jimmy John's coming to the New Orleans area soon.
