And away we go! After the project was announced almost two years ago, the long-awaited Restaurant R'evolution?by Louisiana food person John Folse and renowned Chicago chef Rick Tramonto?opens for real tonight. The chef de cuisine is former Café Adelaide chef Chris Lusk. Located inside the Royal Sonesta at the corner of Bourbon and Bienville, R'evolution's interior spans four distinct dining rooms, each designed to evoke a different part of New Orleans' culture. The Louisiana-inspired menu spans 5 pages, featuring a mix of local classics and more inventive, new dishes that play on local flavors and ingredients (like the provocatively named "Death By Gumbo" or the "Triptych of Kurobuta Pork"), plus a 10,000 bottle wine cellar and craft cocktails from the semi-autonomous Bar R'evolution. In some ways, R'evolution feels more closely related to the city's old school, old line Creole institutions than the more casual spots that have opened over the last few years, but it also feels distinctly new. For now it's just open for dinner and will add lunch and brunch service in the future.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 5-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 5-11 p.m.
