There's about to be yet another food option on Freret Street, with the arrival, sometime this fall, of Wayfare. Ian McNulty at the Gambit learns that this will be a "new deli and specialty sandwich shop" in the former location of the Freret Street Boxing Gym, near Napoleon. Wayfare is owned by Ray and Vincent Arnona, father and son, whose family used to run Vinny's Sports Bar in Gretna and Dino's in the Warehouse District. The food options will be Cochon Butcher-esque, the Arnonas tell McNulty:
While the menu is still a work in progress, Vincent Arnona says Wayfare will borrow from various deli traditions and add some Southern twists. Some prominent features of the plan call for house-made meats, fine cheeses and lots of pickled produce. There will be salads and soups and specialty grocery items. And there will be booze, assuming they get their liquor license. (Which McNulty says "should not be much of an issue." Wayfare should open by November.
