All is not lost for Sweet Olive, the sleek, chic restaurant inside the Saint Hotel on Canal Street. The restaurant was initially a concept by Coquette chef Michael Stoltzfus, who left after only a few months. It's now getting another menu redesign, with the restaurant to be led by chef Marcus Woodham. The hotel announced this via a press release a few minutes ago.
Woodham is a buddy of Leon and Pierre Touzet, the brothers who are partners in Patois, Tr?burger and Ste. Marie. According to the release, he worked as sous chef at Patois for six years and helped open Ste. Marie and Tr?burger, as well as Capdeville. The Sweet Olive website promises "a constantly changing seasonal menu focusing on local produce and products." In the release, Woodham says the menu will be food "locals have been eating their entire lives, only with a creative spin to it."
And yes, while it took a little time off after Stoltzfus left, Sweet Olive is back open. Hopefully this is the end of the shuffles over there.
