Chefs Phillip Lopez, Gregg Zeringue Win NOWFE Awards

Back in March, 12 food and media people went from restaurant to restaurant tasting what different chefs were going to be offering at Friday and Saturday's New Orleans Wine & Food Experience Grand Tastings. The winners were split into two categories?savory and sweet?with the winners announced this morning.

Going home with the Best in Show Sweet is chef Phillip Lopez of Root, for his increasingly infamous Cocoa Puffs-based Yorkie. The savory winner was more of an upset, with the award going to chef Gregg Zeringue of the Green Bar at the Westin Canal Place. Zeringue made a crispy pork belly with watermelon.
