Oyster season is coming to a close, making this year's New Orleans Oyster Festival one of the last opportunities to gorge on high quality bivalves. It's happening June 2 and 3 (that's a Saturday and Sunday), at Woldenburg Park on the river. 18 restaurants will be there serving up everything from oyster po' boys to oyster dip to charbroiled oysters. Plus non-oyster dishes like, for example, alligator sauce piquante from Borgne. There's also going to be:
· the P&J Oyster Shucking Competition, Saturday at 2:30
· the New Orleans Fish House Largest Oyster Competition, Saturday afternoon, and
· the Acme Oyster Eating Contest
Plus music both days, all day long. Is there anything better than festival season in Louisiana? Of course not.
