So apparently there was this college-y baskteball type thing going on in town this past weekend, which, as such things tend to do, brought people from all over the country to hang out and watch basketball and talk about basketball. But some of the sports people actually branched out away from the Dome and the Quarter, which led to things like yesterday's love letter to Bacchanal by Sports Illustrated's Andy Staples and this video by SB Nation's Amy K. Nelson.
The whole point of Nelson's visit can be summed up in one quote: "I wanted to get away from the French Quarter and experience New Orleans. The real New Orleans." And how does she do that? Fried chicken at Willie Mae's Scotch House and "cool hipster drinks" at Cure with her brother (New Orleans resident and locally renowned amateur soccer player) Rob Nelson. After that, it's all drunk and screaming college basketball fans and an awesomely gratuitous shot of a dude falling on his face on Bourbon Street.
