Take a Look at Dat Dog's New Digs

Over the weekend, Dat Dog moved into new, larger digs across the street from its original location on Freret. The new space is in a former gas station that owners Constantine Georges and Skip Murray bought some time ago. As they set about renovating the indoor and outdoor space over there, they opened it up to people like Nathan Winner, better known as the NOLA Pie Guy, who sells pies, crepes and waffles from a stand out there.

The move, along with the presence of people like Winner, is all part of their plan to promote a more walkable Freret, with more of a town center feel, as Murray told Eater earlier this year. For the hot dog shop itself, the biggest improvement is simply the addition of a whole lot of seating both inside and out. The larger space also allows Dat Dog to expand its drink options by adding wine options, house-made ginger ale and nectar colas, and floats featuring Barq's root beer and Mexican Coke.
