If the release of Abita's Strawberry Harvest makes it official that Spring is about to get sprung, then the annual re-opening of Hansen's Sno-Bliz means that Spring is officially here. (And no, the fact that it's been over 80 degrees for the last couple of days pretty much has nothing to do with whether or not it's Spring, at least not according to the city's culinary calendar.)
But good news: The iconic snowball stand at the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Bordeaux will open next Friday, March 9, "with possible 'preview' days starting March 6." Their hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, 1 to 7PM.
As the fantastic South Louisiana food blogger Bouillie writes, the side of the Hansen's building is now emblazoned with a big, red "73," which is the number of years they've been in business.
