Opened just a half-block down from Maurepas Foods is a new restaurant called Suis Generis, turning that stretch of Burgundy into a pretty alluring spot for food. The name basically means "unique", and the restaurant has an ethos to match. Opened this past weekend by Adrienne Bell and Ernest Foundas, the whole idea behind the menu is a sort of super-seasonality, updated as they and chef Scott Fiddler see fit. As a result, early reactions suggest the menu is short but constantly changing. Given that they're still doing their new restaurant stretches, Bell told Eater that the menu isn't changing quite as often now as it will once they're more settled. Bell and Foundas had begun work on the restaurant before Katrina, spending the years since re-renovating the space, while Fiddler is a recent arrival from Portland, Oregon. The rather small dining room has about 40 seats, including the bar and a funky, casual little nook in which less-formal diners can lounge and eat on TV trays.

Hours: Wednesday, 6-11PM; Thursday and Friday, 6PM-1AM; Saturday 10AM-3PM (brunch) and 6PM-1AM; Sunday 10AM-3PM (brunch) and 6-11PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
