Last month, Eater National reported that Food & Wine was adding a new, crowd-sourced award to their annual search for the country's best up-and-coming culinary professionals. This new award is for the Best New Pastry Chef?eligible pastry chefs must have been in their position for less than five years. F&W editors are picking a handful of pastry chefs from across the country, with one additional pastry chef chosen by readers' votes. Why are we tell you all this information? Because New Orleans has three, count 'em three pastry chefs up for the award.
They are:
· Kelly Fields, August
· Kris Bouley, Dante's Kitchen
· Lisa Gustafson, Patois
F&W is opening voting today by 10:30 Central Time. It's open through February 14, and the winners will be profiled in the May edition of the magazine. New Orleans' chefs are up against some folks from much larger markets, so let's show them some love.
