La Fin du Monde quietly opened its doors this week, and is getting off to a sleek new start in the former Cafe Rani space on Magazine in the Garden District. The new brunch, lunch and dinner destination from Justus Jagger (also a partner in Serendipity) went through a rather quick and swank renovation with shiny white tile walls, a cool collection of vintage clocks, antique stem ware, and a stuffed wild boar above the kitchen entrance. The menu, by Chef Jonathan Lestingi, formerly of Stella, will rely on fresh and local ingredients, with lots of in-house smoked meats, kimchi, and other pickled wonders. The bar team, lead by Tonique alum Michelle McMahon and Geoffrey Wilson, promises impeccable classics and innovation, plus French Truck coffee and fresh juice during brunch.
