Dat Dog Employee Shot in Shoulder During Robbery

This is absolutely horrifying. Dat Dog employees were getting ready to open this morning around 10:30 a.m. when a masked man came inside with a gun and demanded money, Uptown Messenger's Robert Morris reports. "The employee was reluctant to give the money up, and the gunman shot him once in the right shoulder," Officer/NOPD spokesman Frank Roberston says. Dat Dog will remain closed the rest of today. Owner, Constantine Georges, tells Uptown Messenger he understands his employee's wound to be minor, and a full recovery is expected.

Robert Morris also reports, "Monday's shooting was the first time the violence that occasionally flares up in the neighborhood has reached the commercial corridor since the fatal shooting of Errol Meeks in front of the now-shuttered Friar Tucks nightclub nearly two years ago." Police are still searching for the Dat Dog gunman at this time, and are planning to release video footage of their suspect soon.
