Yesterday Brennan's restaurant showed up on the sheriff's office list of properties set to go up for auction on December 13, with a caveat? that it had already been stopped. Well, it's hasn't. Today Susan Langenhennig reports that the listing stands, and is a result of a petition filed in Orleans Parish Civil District Court by a company called Leggo/4, which bought up Brennan's unpaid mortgages from First NBC Bank in April, and is now suing the restaurant for the $4.1 million debt they've failed to pay. But it gets crazier:
Leggo/4 is registered in New Orleans and lists Shawn Brennan as its officer on the Louisiana Secretary of State's website.
Bridget Brennan Tyrrell, daughter/lawyer of current Brennan's owner Ted Brennan, confirms that Shawn Brennan Cerchiai (okay, where did that Cerchiai just come from?) is involved with the suit, but wouldn't say any more, and the family is staying silent on this newest sordid affair. A true familial Battle Royal, given the restaurant's location.
