Talk about a shutter shocker. Uptown lunch destination Café Rani on Magazine Street has likely gone out of business, or is very close to it, according to a very reliable source. Long known for their courtyard and healthier menu, Rani has apparently been overrun by labor and food costs for some time now. A call to the restaurant reveals the phone is no longer in service. UPDATE: While Café Rani is currently closed, the restaurant's latest Facebook update assures that they will be back open on December 3rd with renovations and a new menu. Their phone line remains disconnected at this time.

A tipster also tells Eater that the Huey's 24/7 on Vets in Metairie? the one that caught on fire a few months ago and reopened? was apparently shuttered the day before Thanksgiving. Supposedly, no notice was given to staff or management. The diner's staff also claims their paychecks were drawn on the closed Huey's Jax location account and no good. You may remember Huey's Jax shuttered mysteriously months back, and now Huey's owner Jason Doyle has reopened that space as New Orleans Famous Beignets. The Huey's on Vets no longer has phone number in service, and could not be reached at this time.

If you know anything about Café Rani's or Huey's shutterings, please feel free to send us an email or leave a comment. Tips are always greatly appreciated.
