Treme: The Cookbook Includes Bourdain, NYC Chefs

Because nothing transforms a room of New Orleanians into a Pace picante sauce ad quite like an episode of Treme ("This stuff's made in New York City! New York City?"), soon you can get that feeling in book form too. Treme: The Cookbook: In The Kitchen with the Stars of the Award-Winning HBO Series is coming Summer 2013. And who better to write the forward than New Orleans native Wendell Pierce walking curse-word thesaurus/Treme scene writer Anthony Bourdain? Just wait til Blackened Out? who recently went off on the show's inaccurate portrayal of the post-Katrina restaurant scene? get their hands on these 'stories and recipes from the heart of New Orleans.'

Like the True Blood cookbook, this one will also feature fictional first-person narratives from the shows characters: the book is written by Lolis Eric Elie in the voice of the show's chef character Janette Desautel. Granted, there will be recipes from New Orleans restaurants like Upperline, Bayona, Restaurant August, and Herbsaint. Since Desautel has "worked" at Brigtsen's, Emeril's and Gabrielle, expect recipes from those restaurants too. Zinger: the book will also include recipes from chefs that have appeared on the show, ie. Eric Ripert, David Chang, and more.

Treme: the Cookbook comes out July 1 from Chronicle.
