Belly Dancing Brunch at Fatoush; NOLA Chefs in DC

FAUBOURG ST. JOHN?The nonprofit cultural club behind Oktoberfest acquired the title for formerly state-owned land on Moss Street last month. Club president Keith Oldendorf tells Ian McNulty it "signals the start of a capital campaign to build a new Deutsches Haus and Oktoberfest grounds" in Bayou St. John. This year's Oktoberfest in Kenner will raise funds for that project. Prost! [Gambit]

FAUBOURG MARIGNY? Fatoush, The Meditterranean Grill/Coffee House in the Healing Center now has a Belly Dancing Brunch on Sundays from 11am-2pm and a brunch menu featuring normalish brunch fare and something called "lasagna cupcakes." It's okay the cupcakes are made of puff pastry. [EaterWire]

DC?Sucr&eacute Pasty Chef/owner Tariq Hanna and Chip Flanagan, Executive chef at Ralph's on the Park, were among 16 chefs recognized last month in Washington, D.C., at ceremonies announcing the new Diplomatic Culinary Partnership, a collaboration of the U.S. Department of State and the James Beard Foundation.
