Turns out the recent Bud's Broiler fire on City Park Avenue occurred on Friday afternoon, according to Nola Defender, and the cause of the kitchen fire is still unknown. What makes this really horrible: Voodoo is the restaurant's busiest weekend of the year, and the fire occurred on the first day of the festival. Owner Shannon McGuire laments, "It would have been perfect, but it could have been worse."
Paul Christian of All Dry Water Damage Experts contacted Eater about the restaurant's progress after the fire, and says he's been working on the Bud's Broil rebuild since "day one." The kitchen now has a new "outer shell". The restaurant has undergone smoke odor restoration, and thankfully no equipment was majorly damaged, so "kitchen interior efforts will be conducted over the next few weeks". There is no date set for the reopening.
