The Covington Historical District Commission have given the go-ahead for renovation plans on downtown Covington's century-old Southern Hotel. The plans include 2,480 square feet of space for a restaurant. Lisa Condrey Ward, the hotel's new owner, says she hopes to "unite with an independent restaurateur, whose talents can be expanded in a bistro-style setting." [Nola.com]
