Greg Sonnier Facing Lawsuit, Stops Gabrielle Dinners

Greg Sonnier has suspended Gabrielle dinners at the Uptowner, the building that's seemingly plagued by zoning/permit issues, pending a lawsuit. Last month Sonnier released a statement saying a petition filed in Civil District Court could take away the restaurant's licenses and permits, and it looks like that may be happening. The lawsuit seeks to change the building from commercial to residential. Sonnier has been advised by lawyers to keep mum.

About six months ago the NOPD rolled up on a dinner service at the Uptowner? where Sonnier offered favorites from his beloved Mid City restaurant Gabrielle (which closed after Katrina) and customers had to, like, sign a contract to even be served. The cops inspected operating permits, and everything seemed totally legit. As of now, the Uptowner will only operate only as a reception and banquet hall.
