Eater just got off the phone with Laurie Casebonne of restaurant Iris, to check in on the upcoming Bywater restaurant she's opening with partner Chef Ian Schnoebelen. The restaurant is called Mariza, and will feature an Italian-Inspired cuisine. Expect lots of house made pastas and salumis. Located on the bottom floor of the hipstery, art-centric Rice Mill Lofts, the restaurant is currently undergoing a total "build out," and is expected to be casual with wooden tables and a large bar instead of the "white table cloths" and lush Flavor Paper at Iris. Casebonne says they hope to open on/around December 1.
This is great news for the Bywater, which continues to expand its dining options, since new favorite Maurepas Foods opened earlier in the year. Recent addition Prime Grille opened last month, and Pizza Delicious and Booty's on the way for October.
