At the beginning of this month, the Magazine Street location of the popular coffee shop Rue de la Course closed relatively quietly, with the rumor being that the space may soon become the new location of Ignatius Eatery, the Creole spot a little farther up Magazine. Both are owned by the same person, Jerry Roppolo, who has long had issues getting a liquor license for Ignatius. In June, Roppolo got initial approval from the city to serve alcohol in the Rue building?which he owns?but at the time made it pretty clear he was in no rush to make any moves. At the time, he noted that he had a five year lease on the space currently occupied by Ignatius.

Eater has reached out to Roppolo to get more details on the plans for the Rue on Magazine and Ignatius Eatery. Meanwhile, the Rue de la Course at the corner of Oak Street and Carrollton Avenue remains open.
