The Third Street Neighborhood Association, which covers the part of the Irish Channel around, erm, Third Street, filed suit against the neighborhood bar Tracey's. The suit accuses Tracey's owner Jeff Carreras of "allowing excessive noise beyond that allowed by city code to continue in the property despite several complaints from neighbors." The neighborhood association claims that the excessive noise "causes physical and mental discomfort for area residents."
Technically, Tracey's is operating in a residential zone, which is against city code, but it was grandfathered in because the bar was already operating before the area was rezoned as residential. The neighborhood association is "seeking to strip the bar of its liquor license" as part of the suit.
