The new restaurant-and-sports-bar by Harrah's Casino and former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning, cleverly called Mannings, opened today on Fulton Street. Though Manning is originally from Drew, Mississippi, north of Jackson, he's spent most of his life in New Orleans, including the 12 years he spent as a member of the Saints. As such, with New Orleans born chef Anthony Spizale (most recently of the Upperline) in the kitchen, the restaurant promises "a menu that boasts New Orleans-style food with a Southern flair from his home state of Mississippi." Or at least that's what the press materials say. The dining room is heavily decorated with memorabilia from Archie Manning's playing career as well as from the careers of his sons, Peyton and Eli Manning. The sports theme at the 210 seat restaurant is punctuated by the presence of no fewer than 30 televisions, including a 13 by 7 1/2 foot screen in a section called the End Zone.
