It's almost time for a rare-ish celebrity chef sighting in New Orleans: Andrew Zimmern, the Bizarre Foods guy and host of MSN's web series Appetite for Life, is going to be at the Crescent City Farmer's Market in Mid City next Thursday. The appearance starts at 3pm, at which time Zimmern and WWNO's Poppy Tooker will cruise around the market, buy some produce and seafood and then cook up some sthrimp etouffee. The event is being recorded for an episode of Appetite for Life as well as for Tooker's radio show, Louisiana Eats.
Oh, and about that Appetite for Life thing: Zimmern, who has been pretty honest about his struggles with drug addiction, alcoholism and homelessness, calls the show a "Southern road trip for good." Samples of the etouffee that he and Tooker are making "will be given in exchange for contributions in any amount to support community programming at the Crescent City Farmers Market."
