"New Orleans Style House Party" at Green Goddess

Speaking of wine-related things, eclectic French Quarter restaurant The Green Goddess is hosting a special wine dinner next Thursday, January 19. Chef Chris DeBarr describes itt as "not a wine dinner per se, but an intimate New Orleans style house party." But it's still kind of a wine dinner. Wine importer Louis/Dressner is bringing 5 wines, and DeBarr is making a number of passed hors d'oeuvres to match.

There are two seatings, with very limited availability?the Times-Pic quotes it at 25 spots for each. The first one's at 6, the second at 8, and costs $75 a person. Reservations can be made at (504) 444-7482.

Here's the press release:

Louis/Dressner & Lirette Selections present a "Meet the Winemakers Party" at Green Goddess on Thursday night, Jan 19. The lineup of winemakers coming down to New Orleans for this event is nothing short of extraordinary, featuring Arianna Occhipinti & Sebastiano DeBartoli from Sicily, Jean-Paul Brun from Beaujolais, Eric Texier from the Chateauneuf-du-Pape vineyards in the Rhone Valley, and Luca Roagna, based in the Piemonte of Italy, who is bringing single vineyard wines from both Barolo & Barbaresco. Several of these wines have never been seen in the bottom of a glass before here in New Orleans, so it is a truly newsworthy event!

There will be two seatings that Thursday night, Jan 19, at Green Goddess from 6-8 pm & 8-10 pm. There is a $75 per person ticket, which is all-inclusive covering taxes, tips and a generous $20 donation to the Joe Dressner Foundation in honor of the legacy of Joe Dressner, who died last year. Chef Chris DeBarr of Green Goddess notes, "This is not a wine dinner per se, but an intimate New Orleans style house party where our guests will have the chance to taste this dazzling array of wines & learn the unique places where these talented winemakers defend their terroir with the same love we defend New Orleans. It's gonna be a blast!"

Reservations are essential, and there are two ways to make them. Green Goddess has set up a special hotline for this event at 504-444-7482, or guests can request a reservation thru Chef DeBarr's email at chef@greengoddessnola.com.

Also, it should be duly noted that Beth Ribblett of Swirl will be on hand to take retail orders for the wines, which -- given the extraordinary limited quantities that make it to the US market, much less all the way down here to Nola, offers our guests a rare privilege to share these great wines with family & friends.

This "Meet the Winemakers Party" presented by Louis/Dressner & Lirette Selections at Green Goddess on Thursday night, Jan 19, truly represents "a once in a lifetime" opportunity to celebrate the joys of wine, food, and friendship that gives life in New Orleans such an awesome funky vibe!
Much thanks to Matt Lirette for bringing these extraordinary wines & winemakers to Louisiana through his distribution of the Louis/Dressner portfolio, and to everyone who will work behind the scenes to make this an unforgettable evening.
