Perfect Weekend for the 5th Annual New Orleans Seafood Fess

New Orleans seafood lovers got incredibly lucky with this weather: This weekend, when it should still be about 1,000 degrees out but is instead supposed to be nice and cool, is the 5th Annual New Orleans Seafood Festival. The festival runs tonight through Sunday at Lafayette Square in the CBD.

This is one of those super-awesome times where we get to eat lots of great food and listen to great music and buy great art and generally do great things. So many of the city's big big names in seafood will be there, including folks like Acme Oyster House with shrimp and oyster po' boys and Drago's with charbroiled oysters and Galatoire's with shrimp remoulade and friend shrimp BLT po' boys and ... oh, you get the idea.

Devoted as it is to the city's best seafood, this is still a fess, so there will be music: The Stooges Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, Jon Cleary, The Revivalists, Papa Grows Funk, and a whole lot more. And also, chef demonstrations, with a lineup of chefs just as good as the music lineup:

· John Besh
· Tommy DiGiovanni, from Remoulade
· Cory Bahr, from Sage in Ruston, LA
· Chris Lusk, from Cafe Adelaide
· Brian Landry, from the Louisiana Seafood Association (and formerly Galatoire's)
· Kid Chef Eliana
· Michele McRaney, from Mr B's Bistro
· Duke LoCicero, from Cafe Giovanni

The New Orleans Seafood Festival runs tonight from 4-8, Saturday 11-8, and Sunday 11-5. With weather this good, it'd be a crime not to go. We'll be there with a po' boy in each hand.
