VooDoo BBQ Signs Agreement With Florida-Based BBQ Boyz

Hot on the heels of the news that 5 franchises will open in Austin, New Orleans-based barbecue chain, VooDoo BBQ, has signed a franchise agreement with a Florida-based group, to open 26 locations in the country's 4th-most populous state.

The group, BBQ Boyz (cue bad Flava Flav joke), plans to open its first VooDoo location in Miami within 8 months, but according to the group's expansion plan, it'll be a decade before all 26 locations are open.

They hope that VooDoo's "fast-casual," "competition-style" bbq will fill the gap between the "the kind of mom-and-pop shack or the much larger sit-down restaurants that are prevalent" in Florida right now. This franchise agreement and the one we talked about recently in Austin constitute only part of VooDoo's expansion plans. They've signed franchise agreements for 41 restaurants total, from Texas to North Carolina.
