The Examiner seems to just love Jacques-Imo's, the Creole haven on Oak Street that boasts of its "warm beer, lousy food, poor service." Special shout-outs go to the alligator cheesecake, Godzilla Meets Fried Green Tomatos, and cajun bouillabaise. The real takeaway: "Despite the culinary achievent [sic] of this fine New Orleans establishment, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming." [Examiner NO]

Meanwhile, Rene at Blackened Out went to Bangkok Thai, on Carrollton uptown, and did not have nearly that great an experience. "The problem with bad meals is sometimes you see it from a mile away, but you still can't stop the collision course." The meal was "regrettable." [Blackened Out]
