It's confirmed-ish: Michael Sichel will be the new executive chef at that "grand dame" of New Orleans food, Galatoire's. Sichel will be the family-owned Quarter icon's third executive chef this year, with Brian Landry stepping down in the spring and his replacement, Gerry Middleton, leaving a few weeks ago for unknown reasons, after just four months on the job. Sichel is best known locally for his work at 7 on Fulton and the Windsor Court Hotel, though he also spent time blowing people's minds on the Redneck Riviera.
This news comes from Sichel through social media channels?that is, the twitter feed of food writer extraordinaire, Lorin Gaudin. Without official word from the grand dame herself, we can't say if we'll see any new menu items or Sichel-esque touches. But considering that Galatoire's fame rests largely on its commitment to "tradition," "time-honored customs," and raising "consistency to an art form," don't expect much in the way of change. Only expect awesome. [Twitter]
