The Hotel Modern, the redesigned Hotel Le Cirque led by hotelier Klaus Ortlieb, is just about set to open for reals. The hotel celebrated a soft open of sorts this weekend, though to make reservations guests still go through the old Le Cirque website. The grand opening, marking the official launch of the redesign, is next weekend.
This is a major step toward the opening of the new hotel's food and bev options: the French-Vietnamese concept Tamarind by chef Dominique Macquet and the cocktail bar Bellocq by the guys from Cure. Right now both of those are due to open to the public on the 17th, with construction on both very much ongoing.
Eater also talked to reps from the hotel to ask about the iconic colored light displays on the hotel's facade. The new team will keep the lights, but they're going to tone them down a little bit. So perhaps no Mardi Gras-themed displays like the one in the photo above? [EaterWire]
