Pies on Freret, Country Comforts at Vacherie, and More

FRENCH QUARTER? Vacherie Restaurant, which opened in September in the Hotel Ste Marie in the Quarter, has introduced a 3 course prix fixe menu of "Country Comforts." It's available Monday to Thursday from 6-10PM, $18. [EaterWire]

FRERET?Louisiana-born and Chicago-trained pastry chef Nathan Winner, aka "the NOLA Pie Guy," will be operating out of Dat Dog every weekend in November, selling individual 4" pies and taking orders for whole ones. [NoDef]

Next Friday, John Besh, along with chefs from each of his restaurants, will be serving dinner at Café Hope, a functioning restaurant affiliated with Catholic Charities giving job- and life-skills training to at-risk Jefferson Parish youth (much like Reconcile in Central City.)
