Fess Time

MirlitonFessQL.jpgAhh, New Orleans, where it's totally normal to hold a day-long festival in honor of a type of squash that isn't even indigenous to here, as with this past Saturday's Mirliton Festival. Offbeat has a photo-recap of the festivities, which featured a number of Bywater-based musicians and plenty of food incorporating the mirliton, including: "Curried Pumpkin and Mirliton Soup from Satsuma, Stuffed Mirlitons from Jack Dempsey’s, or mirliton popsicles from Meltdown."
