Ever-expanding and terrible-at-spelling doughnut chain Dunkin' Donuts has announced the details of its Louisiana expansion. The chain, super-popular in the Northeast, announced westward movement over the summer but Louisiana was mostly kept out of that talk. Now it's come out that we could be getting upwards of 25 new doughnut?er, donut?shops within the next couple of years.
The deets:
· 4 new Dunkin' Donuts locations in the New Orleans area, open by 2016
· Up to 11 Dunkin' Donuts locations in Baton Rouge, with the first couple opening in 2012, 2 more by 2014, and the rest by 2018
· 10 Dunkin' Donuts franchises in Shreveport between 2012 and 2018
· 2 new Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops in New Orleans, possibly opening next year
Though it sounds like all the "New Orleans" locations will actually be in Jefferson Parish, adding to that one lonely little Dunkin' Donuts out in Metairie. That won't make it much easier to get free goodies on National Donut Day, but really, it does just make it easier to buy local and stuff.
