The Demise of Manners in the South?

New, 3 comments

The New York Times wants to know: Do manners still exist in the South? The piece, by Atlanta bureau chief Kim Severson, focuses specifically on Atlanta, Birmingham, AL and Charlotte, NC. But it raises issues that could easily apply across the South, including New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana, blaming the apparent loss of manners on immigration, digital communication, and "the demise of the home-cooked meal." UPDATE: Here's a take-down of the Times article, calling it out for being sorta-kinda anecdotal. [NY Times via Eater Atlanta, Gawker]
