Just in case anyone was going to try to head there next month for a sazerac, let it be known: The Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone is closing for renovations for the month of November. That makes tonight the last night to take a spin while sipping on a cocktail for a little while. But it's not all bad. According to a tipster, they're simply updating the space, improving the lighting, replacing some of the furniture, and expanding the adjacent lounge area. When it reopens December 1, the carousel will still be there in all its rotating glory
Also, tonight being Halloween and the Monteleone being haunted and what-not, they have some drink specials. (Actually, the drink specials have been through the whole month of October; tonight's just the last and most appropriate night to get them.) The drinks are inspired by a quartet of ghosts rumored to live inside the hotel.
