Todd Price reports that French Truck Coffee--the local microroasters primarily known for delivering the best beans to the best restaurants in town via a fleet of chic vintage Citroën trucks--now has an official espresso bar open to the public at 1200 Magazine. Located across from Barrel Proof, the new shop is described "as well-engineered and organized as the kitchen on a submarine." Owner Geoffrey Meekertells Price they're going for a European feel, meaning "you come in, you have an espresso."
Baristas serve cold and hot coffee drinks, and bags of beans are available for purchase. The shop actually shares a space with/view of French Truck's roasting facility, which is two times as large as the old space and now features three roasting machines. Sometime next year Meeker will also start offering classes on the roasting process.
